On September 13th, 2009 Catalyst Church began! God's plan has always been that people far from God would find life in Christ! His unique vision for Catalyst Church is that we would change the way people view church! We invite you join us on this crazy journey, and help make the Catalyst dream become a reality.
PROBLEM
There are thousands and thousands of people who are living in this community right now, who are living without hope, and purpose, and meaning and significance in their life. Who have nothing against God but have everything against His church.
SOLUTION
Create a church with environments where people who have nothing against God but everything against His church, could find a new lens through which they could view a relationship with God.
God's vision never changes. We believe God's vision for all people in general is that those who are far from God would find life in Christ. This theme runs all throughout the Bible... A passionate God in pursuit of a prodigal people. We also believe God has a specific vision for Catalyst Church, and this vision will allow us to reach the needs of the specific people in the area God has called us to. We believe that God's vision for this area, and our unique church, is that we would CHANGE THE WAY PEOPLE VIEW CHURCH.
Why are we so focused on changing the way people view church? From talking to people and hearing stories of students talking to their parents, we really believe people are searching for God. We believe the search for God ends, for most, because of churches and the people who are supposed to be closest to God. We look around Connecticut and we feel that, just like in Mark 2:4, the "religious" people are the ones who are keeping people from finding life in Christ. We have to knock down this wall before people will find life in Christ.
Here is a fact: most hate church because they see churches as hypocritical, judgmental, old-fashioned, irrelevant, boring, or too involved in politics. Sadly, we think people see church this way... Because church has been this way! Our vision is to smash all of these stereotypes and be what we believe God intended the church to be!!!
Our 5 year vision
A lot of churches dream of bigger and better buildings; that is far from our dream. We dream of people finding life in Christ. Our goal is not to have the biggest building in Connecticut. Our vision centers around the dream of seeing Connecticut changed. That does not happen by having the largest church. Our dream is to spend very little on facilities.
In our first five years we would love to help start 3-5 other life giving churches throughout the state of Connecticut. If we can help launch life giving churches in multiple cities we will see the whole state of Connecticut find hope, peace, forgiveness, and life in Christ.
